Latest Update of HEC Regarding Examination of University Students

A few days ago, an announcement came from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) regarding the examination of University students. It is stated that all the universities must have to make arrangements as per their system to conduct the exams. So, it is clear that no one will be promoted to the next class or semester without passing the exams. Since the announcement of the Education Minister regarding the promotion policy of students till intermediate, the university students were in worries. But after this news of HEC regarding the examination policy, students are quite clear.

Now, there is still a question that it is still not confirmed that what will be the pattern of examination. In notification by HEC, it is stated that universities have to make arrangements as per their existing system of education. So, it is quite possible that paper will be as per the traditional pattern, but it is connected with the policy of government and expert’s opinion. As everyone knows, nowadays the situation is typical, and as per the orders of government, all the educational institutions are closed due to the Covid-19. The experts have their point of view that due to the gathering of people, there is a high risk of an increasing number of patients of Coronavirus. So, it seems not possible that the University will conduct an examination as per the traditional pattern.

As per the expert’s opinion, if the government is not allowing to conduct the examination as per traditional pattern and University is unable to promote students to the next classes based on their past performance, the only way to conduct examination is an online examination system. The problem is that our students are not able to appear for this new pattern of online exams. The reason is that they were still following the old system of education, and they have no idea for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). As per the old pattern of examination, students only have to write in an essay form about any topic.
